Tony Bennett is a popular and critically praised recording artist and concert performer. He has won fifteen Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, and been named an NEA Jazz Master and a Kennedy Center Honoree. He has sold over 50 million records worldwide. His signature song is I Left My Heart in San Francisco.
Tony Bennett paints under his birth name Anthony Benedetto. He has been painting all his life and is an accomplished visual artist. He received formal training in art at the School of Industrial Arts (now known as the School of Art and Design) in Manhattan. He has continued to paint throughout his career in music and his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world including the Smithsonian's American Art Museum.
In 1999 Tony Bennett and his wife Susan Benedetto formed Exploring the Arts, a non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the role of the arts in American education by returning arts-enriched programming to public schools across the country.
He is as renowned as a humanitarian as he is an entertainer. The United Nations honored him with their Humanitarian Award in 2007 and has donated his time and talents to charitable organizations.
