Comic Book Artist: The Sandman
Michael Zulli is an American comic book artist best known for his legendary work on the The Sandman with writer Neil Gaiman. His work is characterised by detailed realism, a delicate painterly touch, and a hint of the Pre-Raphaelites.
With other writers, he has drawn Sandman spin-offs The Dreaming and WitchCraft, and illustrated J. Michael Straczynski's novella Delicate Creatures. He is also familiar to many through his work on the independent ecological series The Puma Blues with writer Stephen Murphy. What may not be so familiar is his fine art: lushly detailed, delicately rendered, his craft harkens back to a forgotten era.
Recent works include a beautiful illustration of Neil Gaiman's poem, In Relig Oram.
Michael has been nominated for multiple Eisner, Harvey, and Eagle awards.
